What's Inside

Unzip it and the whole thing lies flat. Down the spine is a three-ring binder with 1" rings, so a good stack of hole-punched paper, invoices, or a planner refill rides in place instead of sliding around loose. The right side has a full-width pocket cut for a legal pad. The left side gives you a deep angled sleeve for extra papers, a folder of contracts, or an iPad or similar tablet, plus card slots along the bottom and a clear window for your ID or business card. The double zipper runs three sides with two leather pulls, so you can open it from either end and nothing falls out on the drive.

Hair on Hide, Tooled Leather

The center panel is real cowhide with the hair on, not a print. No two hides are speckled the same, so the piece you receive is a close match to the photos but never a carbon copy — that is the point of hair on hide. The tooled border is carved into veg-tan leather, the only leather that takes a cut this crisp and holds it, with the sunflowers picked out in yellow. Closed, it measures roughly 13" by 10", sized to tuck under an arm or drop into a work bag.

Will my portfolio look exactly like the photos?
Very close, but not identical. The tooling and layout are the same on every one; the hair-on-hide panel comes off a real cowhide, so the speckle pattern and the amount of black versus white shift a little from piece to piece. Think of the photos as a faithful example rather than the exact hide.

What size legal pad fits?
A standard letter-size pad, 8½" × 11". Slide the cardboard backer into the pocket on the right and the pad sits flat for writing. No pad is included, so bring your favorite.

Will my iPad fit?
The angled sleeve on the left is cut for a standard iPad or a similar-sized tablet, and it works just as well for a folder of loose paper or a checkbook if you'd rather leave the tablet in the truck.

Is the back tooled too?
No. The sunflowers, longhorn, and hair on hide are on the front only. The back is solid dark brown leather, which gives you a plain side to set down on a dusty counter without worrying about the carving.
