The Cinch Connector Hobble Strap is a 5/8" biothane strap that clips to your front cinch and adjusts to your back cinch with a Conway buckle — keeping the back cinch exactly where it belongs. It's one of the least expensive pieces of tack we sell, and it prevents more wrecks than almost anything on your saddle.

The Most Overlooked Piece of Tack on Your Saddle

Without a hobble strap, a back cinch can slide rearward into your horse's flank — the same spot a rodeo bucking strap rides. Even a broke horse can come apart when that happens, and it happens fast. This little strap holds the back cinch forward over the sternum where it belongs. Twelve dollars of tack, standing between you and the worst ride of your life.

Why We Recommend Biothane Here (And We're a Leather Shop)

We build almost everything out of leather — this is one of the only products we tell you to buy in biothane. The hobble strap hangs at the lowest, wettest, muddiest point under your horse, where leather quietly dry-rots and snaps the day you need it. Biothane is waterproof, never dry rots, wipes clean in seconds, and holds consistent strength from end to end.

Fit & Function

Clip it to the front cinch, run it to the back cinch, and set the length with the Conway buckle — short enough that the back cinch can't drift rearward, without sagging. Set it once and it does its job every ride.

FAQ

What does a cinch hobble strap do?

It connects your front cinch to your back cinch so the back cinch can't slide back into the flank, where it can trigger bucking. It also stabilizes the back cinch so it rides in position.

Do I really need one?

If you ride with a back cinch, yes — every time. It's the cheapest piece of safety equipment on your saddle.

How should it be adjusted?

Short enough to hold the back cinch in its proper position just behind the front cinch, without slack. Pair it with one of our cinches and latigos for a complete setup.
