Who This Is For

This leather saddle water bottle holder is built for:

  • Trail riders who need hands-free hydration on long rides
  • Ranchers and working cowboys spending full days horseback
  • Ropers and arena riders who need their gear to stay put
  • Hunters, packers, and back-country riders carrying water on the trail
  • Anyone hauling, training, or showing who wants a reliable Western water bottle holder

Why a Rear Billet Mount

In our experience, a rear billet water bottle holder holds steadier than other attachment points. The billet keeps the holder from swinging or shifting against your leg as you ride, which means your bottle stays put through trotting, loping, and rough terrain. It's a clean, hands-free setup that keeps hydration close without crowding your saddle strings, horn, or pockets. For riders who've tried horn-mounted or saddle string holders and dealt with bouncing or twisting, the rear billet mount is a noticeable upgrade.

Built to Fit Most Bottles

The 9" x 4" holder is sized to carry most standard water bottles, insulated tumblers, and thermoses in the 20 to 32 ounce range. Whether you're carrying a stainless tumbler for hot coffee on cold mornings or a vacuum-insulated bottle for ice water on summer rides, this leather water bottle holder is built to handle it.

Common Use Cases

  • Trail riding and back-country pack trips
  • Ranch work and daily horseback chores
  • Roping practice and arena days
  • Hunting and outfitting trips
  • Hauling, training, and horse shows
  • Parades and Western events

Make It Your Own

The 2" accent at the top is where this holder gets its personality. Pick from a variety of colors, leathers, and patterns to match your tack, your saddle, or your style. Prefer a clean look? The plain version lets the dark brown full-grain leather speak for itself. Either way, the leather will patina and soften with use, developing the kind of character that only real leather earns over time.

What You Get

  • One leather water bottle holder in your selected style
  • Stainless steel cart buckle and rear billet attachment
  • Handmade in the USA
  • Backed by our lifetime warranty

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this attach to my saddle? The holder slides onto your saddle's rear billet (rear flank billet). See the attached video for a quick step-by-step walkthrough.

Will the holder stay secure during rough riding? Yes. The rear billet mount is designed to hold steady through trotting, loping, roping, and trail work. The reinforced stitching and stainless steel cart buckle keep everything tight and in place.

Will it fit my water bottle? The 4" diameter opening fits most standard 20-32 oz bottles, insulated tumblers, and thermoses. Larger or oversized bottles may not fit.

How do I care for the leather? Wipe down with a dry cloth after use and condition periodically with a quality leather conditioner to keep the leather supple and prevent drying. Avoid prolonged exposure to water or direct sunlight when not in use.

Is this for Western saddles only? Yes, this leather saddle water bottle holder is designed to mount to the rear billet of a Western saddle. It is not intended for English saddles.

What if I don't have a rear billet? Most Western saddles have a rear billet, but if yours is missing, worn out, or you'd like a matching set, take a look at our harness leather rear billets. They're built from the same dark brown leather and pair perfectly with this holder.

Shipping & Returns

100% Satisfaction Guarantee & Lifetime Warranty

Every Tyler Shupe Leather product is backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee and a lifetime warranty against defects in workmanship and materials — every item we sell, no exceptions.

If your product ever fails because of craftsmanship or materials, contact us as soon as possible and we will repair or replace it free of charge. The warranty applies to the original purchaser. Normal wear, misuse, and alterations made by someone other than us are not covered — but if you’re unsure, just reach out. We’re always happy to take a look. Full details and care requirements are on our Warranty & Leather Care page.

Returns

Yes — we accept returns. Eligible items may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund.

  • Items must be unused, unaltered, and in resaleable condition, with their original packaging.
  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method once your return has been received and inspected. Please allow 3–5 business days after inspection for processing; bank posting times vary.
  • Original shipping charges are not refundable. Only the price of the returned items is refunded. If your order shipped free, nothing is deducted for the original shipping.
  • Return shipping is paid by the customer. You can use our prepaid label — the cost of the label is deducted from your refund — or ship it back with your own insured carrier.

Final Sale — Not Eligible for Return

  • Custom, engraved, personalized, and made-to-order items are final sale. They cannot be returned or exchanged. (The lifetime warranty still covers them against defects.)
  • Clearance and other final sale items.
  • Items showing wear, damage, odors, or alterations.
  • Leather damaged by improper care (harsh chemicals, sealed storage causing mold).
  • Gift cards.

How to Start a Return

  1. Email hello@tylershupeleather.com within 30 days of delivery with your order number and what you’d like to return.
  2. We’ll reply with return instructions and your prepaid label option.
  3. Send the item back unused and in its original packaging. Once it arrives and passes inspection, we issue your refund.

Belt Size Exchanges

Belts are measured from the fold at the buckle to the middle hole, and sometimes the number just isn’t right. We are happy to exchange new, unworn belts for a different size.

  • No time limit. As long as the belt is unused and in original condition, we’ll exchange it — there’s no deadline on a size swap.
  • You pay shipping both ways — shipping the belt back to us, and shipping on the replacement belt.
  • Custom, engraved, and personalized belts are final sale and cannot be exchanged.
  • Not sure what to order? Our Belt Measurement Guide shows exactly where to put the tape.

How to Start an Exchange

  1. Email hello@tylershupeleather.com with your order number and the size you need — before sending anything back.
  2. We’ll confirm the size you want is available and send you return instructions.
  3. Ship the belt back to us. When it arrives, we’ll send a short invoice for shipping on the replacement — once that’s taken care of, your new belt goes out.

Shipping & Processing Times

We do our very best to get all orders shipped within 2–3 business days of being placed.

Because our products are handcrafted and we’re a small operation, there may occasionally be times when processing takes up to 4–5 business days. If that happens, please know we’re still working hard to get your order out as quickly as possible.

Free U.S. shipping on orders $99+. Orders under $99 ship for a flat $9.95.

Expedited Shipping

We do offer an expedited processing and shipping option to ensure your order gets out as soon as possible and ships via USPS Priority Mail.

If you need an item shipped faster than our expedited option, please contact us before placing your order and we’ll do our best to help.

Once your order ships, you’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking information.

Please note that processing time is separate from shipping time, and carrier delays are outside of our control. If your package arrives damaged, email us within 7 days with photos of the box and item so we can make it right.
